Today we’re going to run through the features of the new EGO Vertex 2.
The EGO Vertex 2 is an ultra-consistent, lightweight, robust and reliable daily workhorse, designed by Bez from Triple Six Studios in Sunderland.
As with all tattoo machines from EGO, the Vertex 2 features their patented ‘Power Triangle’ system.
So let’s take a closer look.
EGO says that the Vertex 2 is “the most coil-like rotary on the market” and this is down to the previously mentioned Power Triangle system.
Each machine comes with a set of triangles, with the colours signifying a different density of rubber.
These range from extra hard to super soft.
The Power Triangles allow artists to configure the machine just the way they like it in terms of give and throw.
Essentially, the Power Triangle system emulates the front and back springs of a coil machine therefore combining the efficiency and reliability of a rotary with the workability of a coil.
The Vertex 2 also offers a direct drive option allowing you to harness the full power of the Faulhaber motor.
By using the direct drive option over the Power Triangles, you eliminate the give leaving you with more of an aggressive punch behind the needle.
Both types of direct drive require no set up just insert your preferred system into the slider and you are ready to go!
The body of the Vertex 2 is made from the highest-quality of aircraft-grade aluminium, weighing in at just 85 grams.
The wrist-friendly design also gives it a well-balanced feel so you can tattoo for long sessions.
The Vertex 2 has a YZ-Rail system which improves how smooth the machine runs, while reducing noise by 60%.
It also features an RCA connection here and a super strong vice at this end.
